Chambray and Florals

Chambray is one of my FAVE fabrics to wear. It’s such a great light weight fabric that can easily be dressed up or down. Just add a casual tee for a dressed down look or a nice blouse for a dressed up look. Today, I went with a semi-casual look with a nice blouse and flat sandals.

What better way to style a chambray skirt than with a floral top? I’m loving the daisy prints this summer! I especially LOVE the modern daisy print on this top. It gives the look a lil modern edge.

Florals and Chambray

Turquoise jewelry is pretty much ALWAYS my go to jewelry in the summer. It’s such a great neutral that will go with SO many looks. I LOVE how the turquoise in this necklace just pops against the black and daisys in the top.

The On Weave Sandals by mark are the PERFECT compliment to the black in the top. I’m loving the weave detail on the toe and heel. Then the t-straps add such a fun feminine detail too. They remind me of the gorgeous shoes in the movie “The Notebook” that I swoon over, just without the higher heel making them an easy all day shoe.

Chevron Pants

These past few weeks of summer have just been so CRAZY busy between birthday parties, soccer games and t-ball games, plus the regular every day life, that I just haven’t had much time to put into blogging. We’re all done with the birthday parties and games, so hopefully I’ll be able to squeeze in a few posts here and there this summer.

I have really, REALLY been loving the jogger pants this summer (as I’ve said before), so I just couldn’t resist when I came across these adorable chevron pants on Poshmark that have a similar fit for just $7!!! The light weight fabric is just perfect for hot summer days. Especially on days I didn’t have time to shave, but don’t wanna wear a heavy jean pant.

Chevron Pants 2

I love the fun print on these pants!!! I can see me doing A LOT of print mixing and matching with these this summer just like I like to do with printed skirts. I did a slight print mixing with this look with a subtle polka dot chambray top.

Chevron Pants

The black in the pants pair perfectly with the On Weave Sandals by mark. T-strap sandals are a huge trend this season and these are definitely adorable! I LOVE the basket weave details on them too! They can so easily be dressed up or down and they would also look great with skirts and shorts! Plus they’re so easy to walk in since they’re flats.

Chevron Pants 5

Please disregard the dirt on the heel of my sandals. That what happens when you live in a small town with lots of dirt. I didn’t realize the dirt was there till after taking the pics.

Chevron Pants 6

I like to do just a half tuck in the front with my shirts. This helps to define my waist, but still keeps the look on the casual side.

Camo Chambray

If you follow my blog, it’s no secret I have a thing for the camo. I haven’t actually worn it for awhile though, so I decided it’s time to break out the camo chambray and pair it with coral denim.

Chambray is a great way to style a colored denim and then the camo chambray adds just a lil extra interest to the look.

To give your look the cool edge, wear your top half tucked. It’s a great median between dressy and super casual. And then again, it just makes you look cool! 😉

To keep things casual and fun, I finished off the look with a pair of leopard sneakers. Not only are sneakers a HUGE trend this spring, but they’re just super comfy too!

Flower Power

Well Spring has finally sprung (officially that is, it’s actually been spring weather here for awhile now). So that means it’s time to break out the spring floral prints! YAY!!!

I was never that big on floral prints until this last spring when florals were a HUGE trend for the season. Now I LOVE them!!! I think I had just never found the right floral print for me!

I’m SO excited to start wearing my floral pants again. They have such a fun print and just put me in a good mood.

My favorite way to style floral pants is with a chambray top (of course). The chambray is the perfect neutral. Then I added a pair of oxford flats for a cool, chic feel.

I also pinned my hair back with one of the Hold It Right There Pins by mark to add some springy color and interest to my hair.

Window Pane

Window pane is the newest print trend I’ve been seeing lately all over Instagram. Since I’m really into the clean lines, I was totally drawn to it.

I’ve been seeing a lot of the window pane print on skirts, but since the only time I really get to wear a skirt is on Sunday, I decided to opt for a window pane pant instead. At Old Navy I found the option of either a black and white window pane or a cobalt and white window pane. Since I’m SO ready to start working some color into my spring looks, I went for the cobalt and white.

At first look, these pants definitely feel like a more dressy pant, but I wanted to share how easy it is to dress them down. So how do I do that? Chambray of course! If you know me, you know that chambray is my main go to!

To add a lil print contrast, I added a leopard skinny belt. Leopard is also considered a neutral, so it pairs perfectly with the cobalt window pane. To keep things casual, I again went with Oxfords. They’re just the perfect way to add some cute, casual style to a look. I finished off by keeping the jewelry simple with the mark Three Of A Kind Bracelet Set and mark Tool Around Ring Set.

Chambray

Today was one of those days I was just bloated, needed to hide it and nothing in my closet was really speaking to me. That’s when I say, when all else fails, wear chambray!

Chambray is one of the wardrobe basics that will go with pretty much anything. Basically a no brainer when it comes to styling. Plus since it’s loose fitting, it can easily hide my bloated tummy. BONUS!!!

To add a lil bit of interest to my look, I added a pair of cuffed camo jeans with a pair of brown booties. Then I accessorized with a layered watch and name plate bracelet and a crystal necklace (can’t see it in the pics).

Navy and White Striped Maxi

Maxi’s are always fun to wear cuz they’re long and flowy and make you look and feel amazing! Yet they’re super comfy like an ol’ pair of sweats! So basically you can go out in public looking super awesome, yet feeling super comfy and relaxed!

I’d been on the search for a navy and white striped maxi skirt, but hadn’t found one that fit what I was looking for. That was until I accidentally came across this one on a recent Walmart trip. Best part? It was just 12 BUCKS!!! Woo Hoo!!! Score!!!

I wanted to style the skirt different from the traditional way of styling a maxi (tee and denim jacket or cardi), so I decided to go with a chambray button up instead. Not that I don’t like the traditional way of styling a maxi cuz I’m sure I’ll do that one of these days, I just wanted to stretch myself and think outside the box. I really like how it turned out! Still a comfy casual feel with a lil bit of chicness added in!

Normally my FAVE shoes to wear with a maxi are a flat sandal, but since today winter decided to come back for a visit after our 50 degree temps the past few weeks (it’s pretty cold and windy out today), I decided to go with a leopard flat instead. Besides in winter I kinda take a break from always having my toes prettily painted (not that they look bad or anything, they’re just not painted), so they’re not quite sandal ready anyway.

What’s your favorite way to style a maxi?

Neutrals

Todays’ look is all about the neutrals! Neutrals as in chambray, leopard (yes leopard is a neutral), olive green and cognic. There’s not really any one piece that particularly stands out, but they all blend harmoniously together.

If I had to pick one of these pieces as a stand out piece though, it would be the leopard print scarf. It’s definitely a focal point. When you wear leopard, limit it just one leopard piece. For example, don’t pair a leopard scarf with leopard shoes. Make one of them a plain (nonprint) neutral like I did with the leopard scarf and cognac boots.

Fall Essentials

Fall is definitely my FAVE fashion season! I just LOVE being able to layer and not have the outside temps be bitter cold. There’s TONS of layering options like cardigans, jackets, blazers, sweaters and button ups just to name a few. I also LOVE the rich hues associated with Fall like deep wines and mustard yellows.

There are certain pieces I consider to be Fall Essentials I HAVE to have in my closet. In today’s post, I’m going to share those with you.

Fall Essentials

1. Plaid – Plaid is one of my FAVE prints for Fall. I feel like it SCREAMS Fall. Red plaid is my most favorite, but there are literally TONS of plaid options to choose from.

2. Chambray Button Up – Chambray is a staple for me any time of year, but especially in the Fall. It’s a perfect layering piece and can be found in many shades and can even have prints.

3. Basic Tee – A tee is great for layer under your other Fall Essentials. It doesn’t have to be anything fancy. I prefer my to be loose fitting.

4. Fall Hues – As I said before, I LOVE the hues of Fall. My most FAVE is mustard yellow. Plus this cardigan is great for Fall layering.

5. Chunky Watch – A watch is a must for me and my favorite is a big chunky one like this boyfriend style watch.

6. Statement Necklace – If you only have one accessory, I recommend a statement necklace. Accessories are what complete an outfit and pull it all together. A statement necklace is the easiest accessory to do this with because it’s front and center of your outfit.

7. Olive Pants – Olive colored pants are a neutral so they’ll go with pretty much anything. They’re also a great alternative to your basic denim jean.

8. Dark Wash Denim – Dark Wash Denim can be dressed up or down so it can pretty much take you anywhere.

9. Brown Boots – Boots are not only essential to keep your feet warm and dry, but brown can be styled with anything.

10. Scarf – A scarf is both fashionable and functional. It can add visual interest to your outfit and help keep you warm in chilly weather.

P.S. I’ll be sharing how to create 20 Fall outfits out of these 10 Fall Essentials, so be sure to check back soon!

One of my FAVE places to shop is quickly becoming Poshmark! The thing I really LOVE is that if there’s a piece I’m DYING to add to my closet, I can easily search the Poshmark App on my phone and find several options ranging from various price points. I can also ask the seller questions about the piece to make sure it’s what I’m looking for. I scored this whole outfit on Poshmark (excluding jewelry) for just $34! Cha Ching!!!!

I LOOOVE mustard yellow! I accidently came across this mustard yellow pencil skirt when I was doing a search on Poshamark for a mustard yellow top. I’ve been wanting one for awhile and scored this one for just 8 bucks! I LOVE the zippered pockets detail!

I’ve also been really wanting to add a polka dot chambray button up to my closet, so I did  a search for “polka dot chambray” on Poshmark and found LOTS of options to choose from! After asking questions of many of the sellers, I finally decided on this polka dot chambray by Old Navy for just 10 bucks! LOVE IT!!!!

I have a thing for leopard and had really been wanting a pair of leopard smoker flats. I did another search on Poshmark and found these for $16. My new FAVE flats!!!
