Color set dark wash denim

If you’re like me, it’s very frustrating to have your dark wash denim jeans, that you’ve paid a lot of money for, just end up fading. So I’m going to share with you a tip I’ve used for several years now, that has solved my fading denim issue! You can do this before you wear them at all or just after the first time you wear them. I wait till after I wear them cuz there’s just nothing like wearing a brand new, unwashed pair of jeans!

This is for two to three pairs of jeans.

First, fill your washer three-quarters full with COLD water and add a cup of white vinegar. DO NOT USE DETERGENT!!! If you have a front load washer like me, set your washer to soak, and add the vinegar to the detergent dispenser once you put the denim in the washer, and right after pressing start (the vinegar will just run right into your washer if you don’t hold off on putting it in).

Next you’ll want to zip up your jeans (this helps them keep their shape)….

Zip Up

Turn them inside out (this keeps the outside of the jeans rubbing while washing and drying and causing fading)….

Inside out

And add them to the washer and press start! That’s it!!!! Pretty simple huh?! 🙂

To help the color stay even better and to keep your jeans lasting even longer, hang them to dry. If you INSIST (like me) on putting them in the dryer (or just can’t wait for them to hang dry), be sure to dry them inside out on low heat.

In the future, you’ll want to continue to zip up your jeans and turn them inside out and wash on COLD every time you wash them. Then hang them to dry or dry on low heat inside out. And of course, in the future you can go ahead and use detergent. 😉
